My Alkaline Trio purse- one of my most beloved purses. Perfect size, perfect logo, and for me it goes with any outfit. Gotta love black and gray. (I have these amazing-made in the USA- gray booties that match the gray on the bag!) Anyways, I made this bag in October of ’08 for myself. And I would say I carry it around at least 40% in a given week since it’s construction… if not more. And the wear to the bag is surely minimal. I’m still toying with what I should be doing to protect this jersey material more so, since jersey isn’t the most durable fabric. Scotch guard perhaps! Or rice starch. I obviously have more thinking to do…

DIY
Spent the last two days outside at my parent’s sandin’-stainin’-varnishin’ some handles. Lucky for me the last few days of summer have been beautiful.
I used a black exterior water-based stain for these handles, that I ended up coating twice since the first coat went on uneven. And then I hung up all the handles on their cherry tree with some extra copper wire I had around from another art project. I used to string all the handles in a row, but I much prefer this method since I can reuse all the copper wire for the next batch of handles I make. The process is a long one for sure. 2 days of staining and varnishing and waiting produced 23 pairs of handles.
I convinced both brothers of mine to help me- the 6yr old with sanding, which he turned into a competition ‘Issa, whoever sands the smoothest has to get the other an ice cream.’ okay kid. Be prepared to be BEAT. hahaha My 14yr old brother who’s taller, stronger, and heavier than I- helped me varnish a little. But I think I was prying into his personal life a little too much, and he retired back to the xbox. I appreciate both their help though. And I’ll really try and consider the 6yr old’s design advice of painting the handles a camouflage of green and red (?!!?!? stay in school kid! xo).

New Business Cards.
I had been looking through a lot of interesting websites on business card design and I found myself appreciating the simplistic designs- or at least the designs that appear simplistic.
This is what I came up with. Two business sized paper, sewn in the middle, each side then folded in half. One half containing my contact info… Something textured and tangible. I couldn’t be more pleased with the way they turned out.
